Clarens is approximately a 3 to 3.5-hour drive from Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, and about 4.5 hours from Durban. The most convenient way to reach Clarens and explore the surrounding area is by car, as public transport options like buses are rare. While generally safe, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone after dark. Shops in Clarens typically open around 9 am and close by 4 or 5 pm, with restaurants closing around 8 or 9 pm, so plan late arrivals accordingly.
