The Romans arrived in the 3rd century BC, naming the area 'Turris Alta,' meaning 'high observation point,' which is believed to be the origin of 'Tourrettes.' Following the Roman era, the village endured centuries of invasions by various barbarian tribes, including Visigoths, Huns, Franks, and Lombards, until the Saracens fortified and occupied the site until 972 AD.

In 1387, following a conflict, Marie of Brittany, mother of Louis II of Provence, granted Tourrettes-lès-Vence to Guichard de Villeneuve, intertwining the village's history with the Villeneuve family until the French Revolution. Antoine Villeneuve oversaw the construction of the present-day château in 1437, incorporating an earlier 11th-century belfry. The 12th-century Saint-Grégoire church was rebuilt in the 16th century and renovated in the 19th.

The period from 1463 brought numerous hardships, including 70 years of the Black Plague, followed by the Wars of Religion, the War between Austria and England (1744-1748), and the War of the Spanish Succession. Tourrettes-sur-Loup is located approximately 25 km from Nice. If driving from Nice, take exit 48 (Cagnes-sur-Mer) on the A8, then follow signs towards Vence and then Tourrettes-sur-Loup. Parking is available at the entrance to the village. For public transport, the ZOU! 651 Vence-Grasse bus line serves the village, with connections from Nice or Grasse train station, though it does not run on Sundays or public holidays.
